New Sound Festival, 27.02.2016, Ottakringer Brewery, Vienna

Affe Maria (Rakede) DJ-Set
Purple Stage
When Affe Maria, sound master of German sensation "Rakede", packs out his mix of Trap, Dubstep, HipHop and Reggae, the journey through purgatory of bass starts... and prayers will be useless.
Yellow Stage

German-speaking Pop-Rock that makes your body move, touches your soul and won’t let go anymore – for days the lyrics will stick to your brain.
Amon live means: not being able to fight off the smile in your face. The family-band from Lower Austria fascinates with its commitment to every single line. The passion and positive energy enchants the audience.

Banana Joe Trio
Silver Stage
When three full-blooded musicians decide to form a band on a hot summerday in 2014 that can only become a crazy result. The young musicians from Vienna want to revolutionize the history of music and first and foremost pleasure their audience. With their banana-sound, which spreads from Boogie-Woogie over piano-rock up to funk-music, they quickly found favor and make everyone dance.
Yellow Stage
It takes just three seconds for Elias’s debut single Revolution to leave an indelible impression. That voice emerges from out of the ether: tender yet possessing an evident power, it builds into a powerful crescendo which exudes the passion of soul.
Elsa Tootsie & the Mini Band
Purple Stage

The Austrian trio formed by Elsa Tootsie, Artur Nutz and Michael Prehofer focus on a simple orchestrated style with a complex sound structure. Following in the footsteps of remarkable artists such as Syd Barret, Karen Dalton, Rowland S. Howard or Swans, Elsa Tootsie and the Miniband can’t be categorized easily.

Frank Spilker
Purple Stage
Just the Reading is not enough of Frank Spilker. Later in the night he honours us with a special Acoustic Session where he will perform  Songs of his legendary band "Die Sterne" as well as songs of his solo project "Frank Spilker Gruppe".
Fresh Dixie
Purple Stage

Hailing from London,
Fresh Dixie are one of the UK’s most exciting up and coming crossover jazz acts. Their unique sound fuses elements of jazz, pop and soul which, coupled with their seriously impressive musicianship and electrifying improvised solos, forges a live show that is rapidly gaining a strong reputation for its energy and infectiousness.

Inner Tongue
Silver Stage
What does a musician do when they’re forced to spend months in absolute, total silence? In the case of Inner Tongue, they simply continue on as before: writing lyrics, harmonies and melodies, working on perfect beats, all the time unsure how, when – or indeed whether – the individual components will ever be combined.
Julian & der Fux
Yellow Stage

The two Viennese producers Julian Hruza and Dominic Plainer aka Der Fux initiated the „Julian & der Fux“ project 2012. „Julian & der Fux“ exploded onto the scene with the first single “Speckbrot” and the according video (over 100.00 clicks already and features at the Crossing Europe Film Festival and the VIS – Vienna Independent Shorts).

Lesung: Frank Spilker
Purple Stage
Frank Spilker, head of legendary German band "Die Sterne", writes in his first book "Es interessiert mich nicht, aber das kann ich nicht beweisen" a story of downfall - and it's so funny and laconical, that you follow the hero with pleasure.
Purple Stage
A three-headed dragon, a trio of gentlemen residing in The Netherlands who create and perform music in the indie-rock genre. Influences are such acts as Nirvana, The Cure, Sonic Youth and Massive Attack. Combined with dense and abstract poetry, Noblesse creates a sound that is brooding, explosive and slick at the same time. Perhaps what Radiohead would have sounded like if they were born in Seattle.
Pablo Infernal
Purple Stage
As if thousands of craws would spread their wings and put the audience back into the early 70ies by a whole lotta Rock n' Roll: singing guitars, deep drumbeats, creative basslines and a bittersweet to loudly roaring voice paired with energetic performances. That's how you could describe Pablo Inferna from Zurich in little lines.
Purple Souls
Yellow Stage
Purple Souls  are a young fresh band from Salzburg, Austria. The groups debut album (Williamsburg, 19.02.2016/ Motor Entertainment) is an extremely homogeneously balanced record. An energetic guitar pop statement with multi-faceted songs, beautifully structured and arranged, where you can easily hear the bands love for strong-catchy melodies and melancholy.
Silver Stage
Indomitable Irish indie-punk four-piece Raglans have undergone a meteoric rise in popularity since the release of their Top 5 debut album ‘RAGLANS’ with sell out shows across the continent and touring as support for Haim, The Strypes, The Fray, Lifehouse, Twin Atlantic and The Libertines, as well as appearances at Soundwave Festival Australia and CMJ Festival New York.
Screening: Walk it Home
Purple Stage
Beirut, a 5000-year-old city, is still reeling from fresh war wounds, so it's not surprising that the blues strikes a chord with its citizens. Mansour and Ghossein discovered their mutual love of western music, from modern and classic rock, to the British rock renaissance of recent years, soon after they met. A few shared records, tequila shots and jam sessions later, “The Wanton Bishops” were born.
She & The Junkies
Silver Stage
“She and the Junkies” combine Glam, Glitter, Psychedelic and Retro Rock and always have one foot on the accelerator pedal. Because of their energy and self- confidence they consciously serve the one and other rock cliché. These four guys from St. Pölten call the mixture “Junk Rock”.
Sunset Sons
Silver Stage
Surfing by day, gigging by night, that's the motto of indie rockers Sunset Sons, and that's exactly how their music sounds. With their gritty yet laid-back sound they fall somewhere between the pop-Americana of Tom Petty, the rock heft of Kings of Leon, and the beachy alt-rock of Red Hot Chili Peppers. After Sunset Sons were already announced for Air & Style in Innsbruck, they play their first ever show in Vienna at New Sound Festival.
The Wanton Bishops
Yellow Stage
Nader and Eddy met in a bar in their hometown of Beirut, Lebanon. Well, technically, they met outside of a bar, in the middle of a fistfight. Luckily they weren’t fighting one another, and their friendship soon developed over cheap tequila and a shared love of stompy blues music and rock and roll. Such was the beginning of The Wanton Bishops – Nader, the very epitome of a howling blues man with classic rock roots, and Eddy, an anglophilic guitarist with a passion for contemporary British and American rock music.
The Whiskey Foundation
Yellow Stage

THE WHISKEY FOUNDATION, a quintett formed around the charismatic singer MURAT KAYDIRMA was found in Munich in 2011. By now the band plays a major role in the local music scene. The band that released  ”Take The Walk”, a widely acclaimed debut album presented two years earlier, keep fascinating -‐ not at least caused by their powerful live performances.
