New Sound Festival, 27.02.2016, Ottakringer Brewery, Vienna

"Listening to the sound of tomorrow."

We were in need of something new. Here in Vienna. An alternative to all the big festivals. Something for the fans, for the curious, and those with open ears. For all those who want to discover music for themselves and don’t regard new things as disconcerting but as exciting.

The thrill of something new. Now Austria’s first non-profit and single-day festival steps in to fill this void and promote both national and international acts regardless of the strangling chains of music genres. Three stages are the tools to forge a bridge between the showcase and the anticipated world stage. An indoor festival and a certain club atmosphere.

And it's getting more and more thrilling. Who can make the way from rehearsal room to the big stages? Who has the potential to be a headliner? Who has to worry about not forgetting any name at the Grammy's acceptance speech? Only those who have the right feeling about the zeitgeist at the beginning will stay on top. That's what it's about. And that's what we invite you to. No matter if you're a consumer, supporter, partner or musician.

And if somebody asks what you believe in. Tell them in something new.

Arcane Roots
London trio, Arcane Roots, are most often placed in the box pertaining to rock or alternative rock. This tag is as misleading as it is meaningless. In their works you can find traces of serious post-hardcore, experimental math rock and sometimes even playful indie rock. Pay attention to the sharp guitar riffs, the pounding cadence of drums and the insistent vocals of singer Andrew Groves.
With his first EP "Alles Gute" ("All the Best"), Faber wishes us all the Best and all the worst at the same time. The young singer thinks his fellows have made themselves too comfortable and he doesn't even exclude himself. With his german lyrics he confronts his audience with their weaknesses, and doubts.
Joan as Police Woman & Benjamin Lazar Davis

Joan is known to many for her collaborations with Antony, Rufus Wainwright Lou Reed and David Sylvian. A deeply soulful artist who crosses musical genres effortlessly.
"Let It Be You" is wonderful and liberating, a true collaboration from creation to stage, this time with fellow Brooklyn multi instrumentalist and songwriter Benjamin Lazar Davis (Cuddle Magic, Bridget Kearney).

Matt Gresham

Back in the days, Matt Gresham was a passionate surfer and skateboarder. Today, the sun-tanned Singer / Songwriter still firmly stands on the boards, only this time to wow his audience with his songs. After much-noticed performances at Nannup Music Festival and West Coast Blues And Roots Festival in Australia as well as an acclaimed performance at the famous SXSW festival in the US this year, the Aussie singer recently released his new single “Small Voices” – a first taste of his debut album, announced for Spring 2017 and set to receive equal praise in these parts as well!

The Sellout
White Miles

You can compare this band with a spell. A need from deep inside, escaping in a “voodoolicious” way. It makes them push each other into another dimension, leaving blood on their instruments and fighting for air. They call on you to chant their spell: 'dirty pole dance stoner blues rock'.
